England vs Hungary - Bowen makes his debut
Good luck to him. Hope he shines and stays free of injury.

Fantastic to see him get the opportunity as just reward for working so hard this season.

With the World Cup in November why the fuck are they playing this sort of thing in the summer. Very hard season coming up and they should be relaxing

To be fair to the players taking the knee was the most I saw them stretch themselves all game.

I read earlier that England are the only country left that talking the knee, if true what is it with these self indulgent virtue signallers that think they are so much better and more righteous than everyone else?

It’s no surprise everyone hates us isn’t it

Southgate should be looking in these games to assess the back ups for Kane & Pickford and make decisions about centre halves
Imagine Kane insists on playing every match to rack up his England goals and go past Rooney.
Thats doing nothing for England settling on an alternative if Kane breaks his leg in the World Cup .... Abraham? DCL?
Same with Pickford. Ramsdale or Pope need games rather than never playing until say a World Cup quarter final if Pickford gets a red.

Moyes also needs to be on the phone to tell Waistcoat to stop driving Rice into the ground by playing him in every game.

Re: England vs Hungary - Bowen makes his debut
Just no urgency in how England play. 20 mins to go and they are playing back to the keeper from an attacking position. Nobody taking on players to make the space. Pedestrian walking football. As for Kane he has been largely hopeless for England for long periods in games. I think we need to be a bit more unpredictable in that department. I think that Bowen played well but to get picked ahead of the favourites he probably needed to take one of those chances. He was one of few that looked like he cared.
I guess next game will be more of the same. I'm not sure that we needed this at the end of a long season. Seems to be asking for injuries and fatigue.

I don't like the system horse face gareth continues to use but he'll.stick with it because he doesn't right trust certain defenders (TA, Slabhead, Walker) in their natural position. I thought Jarrod ooked very sharp and totally at home. No doubt he'll make untold changes against the germans

Re: England vs Hungary - Bowen makes his debut
As De Bruyne said, these games are glamorised friendlies, so I wouldn't read too much into the result. Be good to do the Germans though.

Bowen did well in his debut. Whisper it, Declan looked tired and not at his imperious best.

Re: England vs Hungary - Bowen makes his debut
That's the sort of foul he gets away with every week because he plays for one of the rich six teams. Piss poor English refs allow them to get away with it but the foreign refs won't

Reece James was outstanding 1st half at the OS in December, 2nd half he was woeful…awful tonight..

Lost their identity you never know what England will turn up.
Too many players just go through the motions as they know or probably been told they'll always get picked.
Thought Bowen had a really good debut hopefully waistcoat thought so too.

Looked like they were as bothered as me with this waste of time cup, should be on the beach

Re: England vs Hungary - Bowen makes his debut
They just looked like headless chickens. All of them chasing the ball around and no semblance of formation at all.

No idea what the plan was supposed to be tactically.

Seems like Mr Waistcoat’s dithering…poor tactics…poor subs and underperforming players cost us this one…

Typical East European blinkered racism…

But Maguire and Pickford have 'Never let him down'

Now what will his excuse be?

Re: England vs Hungary - Bowen makes his debut
Same problem for England IMO. Back 4 with Maguire especially not good enough technically on the ball and have to play the Rice / Phillips combo to protect them more as Hungary were quicker and crisping with their passing thru our midfield who aside from the aforementioned don't do the defensive side of the game so well ( the likes of Saka, Mount etc). And up front although Kane is a great striker of the ball and can take chances, he is too slow and lumbering for the international game ( only IMO ) and against the best defences. He doesnt have Son alongside who is very underrated and makes time and space for Harry boy.

Anyway, we still fall a tad short of winning a major competition ( yet again IMO ) and besides we still need one more West Ham player in the team for that to happen.

Re: England vs Hungary - Bowen makes his debut
Car crash of a cameo by James, can't get away with fouls at International level. Have we got any other strikers bar Kane because Southgate seems to just stick with one formation even when it isn't working (sound familiar?!) After a bright start Southgate is taking England backwards. Too many players I think. Playing for England should be for players who excel consistently at Club level so you aren't going to win much with Maguire and Coady at the back.

Chasing the game - bring on Kalvin Phillips.

Weird.

England will always fall short with Southgate in charge.

Mightve been different if most of the players had given a fuck in the first 90 minutes.
